Call the local town hall. It will be accurate and more up to date than MyNassauProperties.com.

All the responses below are accurate and in addition, you'll get the permit information you may require. Senior citizens are also allowed accessory apartments in the Town of Hempstead.

You can look on MyNassauProperty.com to see if it is assessed as a one or two family or you can call the town's building department (a more reliable source).
