The problem here the construction of the question. Inspections are not done on a pass or fail basis, they are done in order to reveal any defects beyond those disclosed to the buyer. Defects which have not been disclosed, and may effect the value, may discourage or dissuade the buyer from agreeing to the price as offered. The inspection commonly does spur another round of negotiations. If the the parties cannot agree on a post inspection price, the inspection has failed!

The seller is obligated to disclose any known structural defects... aside from that a good inspector is the best way to go. If interested in the property, find yourself a buyers agent you can trust, put in an offer, and find out what you need to.
