Just a little fyi in addition to the previous answer. HOA fees for condos always sound somewhat high, but please keep in mind that one of the major reasons is that with a condo the insurance on the building is included. In the case of gulf front condos, this is a high risk location for insurance companies and for an individual owner insurance is either unobtainable or prohibitively expensive. Insurance is the major cost contributing to the condo fees.
Be careful to check on what the fees include, not just the number. Sometimes it even includes things such as cable fees (which now run over 100/month for individual subscribers), groundkeeping, pool care, and other amenities such as fitness rooms, etc.
