john sequino, Home Buyer in Bradenton, FL

We have dogs and would like a fenced in rear yard. Can rear yards such as this be fenced or are there ordinances that would prohibit.?

Looking at this house in particular but see many others that would be a nice fit for us, but really need fenced yard.

This home is located in the Warm Mineral Springs area of North Port. It is in a non-deed restricted area. You do have to get a permit from the City of North Port to install a fence and it will require a copy of the survey. You just have to follow their guidelines for setbacks on the property. This home has been listed for sale since 6/27/2013. I would be happy to help you or answer any other questions you may have.

Many neighborhoods have deed restrictions which discourage owners from building things in the neighborhood that become an "eye-sore." Neighborhoods that have deed restrictions are usually under condominium ownership. A condominium is not always an apartment building. Most homes that are villas are under a condominium ownership. Most single family homes have no restrictions for dogs or fences. Neighborhoods with deed restrictions are more appealing to a buyer. When thinking about the differences, I refer to the National Lampoon movie, "Christmas Vacation" where the cousin made a visit and parked his dilapidated motor home in the street and emptied his holding tanks into the storm sewer system.

Your real estate agent could research each property you are interested in an determine whether you could have dogs or build a fence in the back yard.
