There seems to be an over abundance of houses in Golden Gate Estates for sale. Is something wrong with area?

Asked by Deborah Menke, Colorado Tue Apr 7, 2009

I am looking to purchase a small 3-10 Acre horse property anywhere between Sarasota and Naples. There are several within this Golden Gate Estates area that would suffice. I'm moving from CO and can't get down to preview for another 30 days and my time will be limited that I have to spend looking at properties. Should I include this area or steer clear? My requirements are for a hobby equestrian, not a commercial operation and I will be a year round resident. Prefer a location with trails that are easily accessible.

Hi Deborah!

There is nothing wrong with the area. There was alot of investors in this area and alot of people got caught with high rate mortgages and arm type loans. The area is close to Naples and actually is a good time to buy because of the devaluation that has occurred. I have been a Naples resident for 26years and would be happy to help you find something. Golden Gate Estates is a large region and has many properties for sale. A large base of investors had purchased during the price run up and are now selling at a loss. Other owners have been in properties for along time but must now sell at market price if they want to move. There are areas of Golden Gate Estates that would be more equestrian freindly.

I believe it is a great time to buy in our market because the high inventory makes it a buyers market. Please feel free to review properties on my site and/or contact me for information.
