“Briarbrook” is a beautiful piece of property where birds sing at dawn in the extensive fields and trees. It is enhanced by the brilliant and sparkling waters of the stream and large pond. The rising sun baths the house. Wildlife is abundant. It offers tranquil shade in the evening on the deck and patio overlooking the fields and pond. The water overflowing the dam provides peace and calm.

“Briarbrook” was named by Hazel and Arthur Pinkham who purchased the home from the Clarksons, circa 1919, at the corner of Ponus Ridge and Greenley Road and it came with some furniture and a picture dated 1826 of a woman standing on Ponus in colonial garb. We believe the home actually dates back closer to 1800 based on a historical map which indicates a house on the corner with the notation of “Mrs. Chichester.” The Chichesters were known to have had a large farm along Greenley from Ponus to Chichester. Ponus was originally part of Stamford in those early days and some additional historical digg
