Looking for house with good rental income from basement (budget upto 800K)

Asked by Jatin, 22041 Sat Dec 5, 2009

Can someone help me find a perfect house where I can rent the basement for rent of $1500 to $2000. I also want to have as much privacy as possible (like a separate entrace from back/side to the basement). I want to be close to DC and peublic transportation (to get good rent). I've been looking at lot of listings for a while but still can't find the perfect one...so maybe I'll have to custom build something! ? Greatly appreciate any any suggestions or if you're agent...pls let me know if you know of listings that will exactly suit my criteria...many thanks.

Hi Jatin, I am getting ready to list a two unit building on Capitol Hill that may suit your needs. The scond floor unit has two bedrooms and two full baths. The lower unit, which is actually a two level unit (1st fl and basement) has three bedrooms, three baths plus a den. The entire property has been completely renovated. We expect that lower unit would get around $3000 per month. Price will be under $800,000. Great Hill location lcose to Union Station and Eastern Market.

It will be tough to find a house whose basement could be rented for $1500. If the purpose of rent income is for investment, you should look into buying a discounted house or townhouse in this market. Rent is becoming competitive. I hope this helps.

If you're not presently working with an Agent, I'd be happy to assist you. I've run a preliminary search of rowhomes with English Basement apartments. Follow this link to view the listings:

Hi Jatin,

As a Real Estate Agent, I would be happy to discuss with you further, to help you find the perfect home. It doesn't sound like you are currently working with an Agent. If not, then I would be happy to represent you in your potential home search/purchase. Please let me know so we can take the next steps.
