Hi Pauline, I have different info than Scott, I show the house as pending in the MLS since 12/1 and the listing agent is Andy Brody. It was on the market since 10/20 so, if you had been working with an agent, you would have had plenty of time to know that it was available and to participate in presenting offers.
A lot of people make the mistake of "not wanting to bother an agent" because they arent sure they are ready to purchase. A lot of people think that an agent will get impatient because they, as a buyers, take a lot of time to make a choice and sometimes I hear from buyers that the agents only want to show them a handful of homes and expect them to pick. Other times buyers think that an agent will be a pest, always calling and bugging them.
If you are looking around and think that a home purchase might be in your future, even if it might still be 6-16 months away for you, you should establish a relationship with a Realtor. It will give you a chance to really get to know them and you will know if that is the person you want to help you through the process. Selecting a Realtor should be no different than selecting your financial advisor or mechanic. You should select someone who does the work full time and has current, relative data and resources to share with you. You should select someone whose communication skills are compatible with your own and most importantly you should use your judgement to determine if you have a comfort level, and, like other service providers, your relationship with a Realtor should be long-term if they have done a good job for you. You will buy and sell homes several times, if someone earns your respect and trust consider using them and referring them as you would other vendors.
