Is Cape Coral a desirable place to start a family? I tried to map nearby stores and it seems pretty isolated.

Dear Hailey,

I have lived in Cape Coral since 1991 and I have a 4 & 7 year old. Cape Coral is a bedroom community and is the second largest city in Florida with about 113 sq miles inside the city limits. Cape Coral is the most populated cities between Tampa and Miami with about 160,000 residents, about twice the size of Fort Myers. Fort Myers is directly across the river and has more of the heavy industrial and commercial areas. In the past 5 years Cape Coral has added another commercial area along Pine Island Rd where you will find new places to eat and shop and many new major chain stores. Cape Coral has 400 miles of canals and has a medial age of about 42. Cape Coral has one of the lowest crime rates in Florida cities with over 100,000 residents. My children go to school in Fort Myers and it takes me 14 minutes in the morning to take them. In general, Cape Coral has more areas zoned single family and is a place where people live and raise their families. The city has a web site at where you can read a lot about the city. If you want to look at homes you can find them at if you have questions or need any more information please feel free to call or email, I have been selling real estate here since 1993 and would be happy to help in any way. In closing, I would suggest a visit if you are considering moving here. A good real estate agent can show you what the area has to offer. Have a great weekend!!
