I was just curious about this apartment and would like more information about it (i.e. all details and pictures).

Asked by Mitchell Steber, New York, NY Mon May 21, 2012

I will be attending NYU in the fall with 3 other roommates and will not be available to visit the complex beforehand so I would appreciate anything. My e-mail is mjs857@nyu.edu Thanks for your time.

The referenced property appears to be a by owner rental with no contact information on the contact property tab, however you can try clicking on sublet.com; keep in mind that scams do exist, therefore if you proceed in trying to locate the owner, always verify ownership before exchanging any money/personal information. Consider working with an agent.

Hi Mitchell. Here's the story. No need to see what you are not in a position to do anything about. September is too far away for any broker to really give you an appointment on this. Besides, it will be long gone by fall.

Your only bet is to get with a broker one month or so before you need it. Be ready with all paperwork and ready to make a decision. The rental market is tough and expensive. You have to have your ducks in a row beofre you even go out to view. Any broker with experience will make sure you're ready to pounce once you find what you seek. Have a great summer and good luck.

Hi Mitchell,

The listing says it is more than 180 days old, which is impossible in this market with less than 1 percent vacancy. If you would like help finding the right landlord and right building for your and your roommates, I would suggest working with a real estate agent.

If you do try to go it alone, please be careful of apartment scams, which you can read about here: http://nycapartmentagent.com/2012/03/20/how-to-avoid-craigsl…
