I bought my home a year ago. A neighbor thinks that an old deed gives them the right to use part of my land for parking. It was once a farm and was subdivided several times over the years. A survey from 2000 seems to imply that this is true. However I contacted the County Clerk and the "unofficial" opinion was that while someone may of agreed to something at some point. No "easement" was ever filed with the Clerks office. (As far as she could see) Hence no rights. She sent me a pack of documents and I have the surveys. How do I figure out what's what? Can I have a surveyor mark the limits of my property or do I need a legal opinion? I have all the deeds but can't make sense of the language. I kid you not, it reads like. "Starting from the iron pipe along former Name's land 30 degrees to North 3" along the old stone wall to Main St.". I would rather use the property for a garden.
