Hi- just found this home. Is it still available? Is it definitely in the Montomery ISD if so? Thanks.

Buying a home soon. Need Montgomery ISD due to joint custody of minor child. Not interested in
Walden, April Sound, or Cape Conroe and all my searches point that way.

Hello Mc,

I'm sorry to hear about your divorce and the complication of joint custody. I applaud your effort to maintain the "two home situation" in a way that focuses on the needs of your child.

There are so many choices in Montgomery ISD. Is your preference to be outside of Walden, April Sound or Cape Conroe a matter of not wanting the sense of being in a standard subdivision? Or is the fact that each of these communities are located on the busy Highway 105 corridor? Or something else?

The reason why I ask the question is not to intrude on your decision or question the validity of it. It is simply because understanding why those areas are not attractive will enable me to make some suggestions for alternatives. The Montgomery ISD has rural properties with acreage, smaller, relaxed subdivisions that feel really "homey", and historic homes near the city itself...and many more choices.

You have made an admirable decision to be involved with your child regularly by staying in the same ISD with his/her Mom. If you child is in elementary level schools, and might be riding the bus to and from your house occasionally, you will want to find a home in the correct area for the school your child goes to. Click below to see a pdf map of the attendance zones for each elementary school. Basically, anywhere south of Hwy 105 and east of FM 149 goes to Lonestar Elementary, north of Hwy 105 and up to FM 1097, along the south side of the lake (April Sound, Walden, Grand Harbor, etc.) goes to Stuart Creek Elementary, and everywhere else in the district goes to Montgomery Elementary. Of course, if your child is out of elementary school, it does not matter as there is only one intermediate, jr. and sr. high school in the district.

If you would like, I can set up a custom website for you that will pull listings right out of the HAR mls and post them on your website, dependent on what criteria you specify to me. Then as the listings change (either reduce in price, are sold or otherwise change status), you will be updated accordingly. And if any new homes come on the market that meet the same criteria, they will be posted to your website each night and you will be notified by email. It's a great way to keep up with the market without having to do your searches over and over again.

I think the problem with that home is it would've been Conroe ISD, at least according to what information was listed in the MLS, although that info could be incorrect. So you possibly didn't miss out on anything!!! There are other options than the subdivisions you are looking to avoid, and I'm here to help. You could look into Stoneranch, Diamondhead, Lake Forest to name a few.
