Can anyone tell me the actual status of this house?

Asked by J Martin, Portsmouth, VA Fri Jan 2, 2009

It was listed as a HUD house for $117,600. When I inquired with the realtor about the house, he said they accepted a bid of $108,000 on December 28th. The house is no longer listed on the HUD site, but it has now been re-listed on Trulia for $132,300. My first thought was that someone purchased the house and immediately re-listed it to make a profit - but Trulia describes it as a HUD house still. I'm so confused!…

J Martin,

I looked at REIN and it is still listed as pending. They may have accepted an offer, but not closed yet. But I am confused as well since it is listed for $117,000, even though Trulia has it for $132,300. If someone buys the house through HUD, there are restrictions. If they are buying it as an owner occupant, but intend to resell, that may be fraudulent. if they are buying it with an FHA loan they won't be able to resell it for 6 months.

Lots of questions and given a little more time I'd be happy to contact the listing agent for you. But something doesn't feel right!

This home has a pending sale, according to the REIN MLS. It came off the market on December 30, 2008. The MLS is most accurate information for real estate transactions that occur through a licensed real estate agent in Hampton Roads so I would believe that information above any information listed on websites that might have a bit of a lag time in terms of the data they display. If you have any other questions about this or any other matters pertaining to real estate in Hampton Roads, please feel free to call me at 757-560-0881.
