now wan The first agent showed us a condo we'd found in the MLS listings for like 2 minutes and then hustled us off to his own rental house. We did not sign any contracts with him, and only spent maybe two hours with him total. The next day we met with another real estate agent who asked us to sign a contract with her for anything she showed us that day. She spent the entire day with us and eventually showed us the same condo as the first guy. After spending more time there, we want it. Are we legally obligated to the first agent at all? We'd like to take it now, and we'd much rather go with her. The state is CT, if that makes a difference. THANK YOU!!!

As far as I know, no contract no pay. We actually aren't allowed by law to show any listings without a representation contract.
As long as you didn't sign anything with agent #1, that agent has nothing in writing to prove you owe him anything or the Listing Broker company. If you wish to confirm, contact the Department of Consumer Protection.

Good Luck,

The answer is....Number 2! She did the right thing and the first guy tried to do a bait and switch with you.

Also, he would have been a dual agent (representing both you and the owner) and that never turns out well.

Good luck!
