Your lender looks at most things based on default risk. If you live and work in the same city, your risk is default is lower. If you work in Phoenix but your primary address is in Prescott, your risk of default is higher. Definitely check with a mortgage person on this. Feel free to call or email me with questions.... more
Dick it will all depend on what you are building.. cost can on a 2 level will greatly differ from a single and at 5000 sq ft bathrooms will cost more so if you have a 4 bath home that will be more than a 3 bath..

The thing about a student loan is that they stay with you. They're considered a valid "lien" against you and will show up on your credit report. Find out who holds the debt, and see if you can't pay it off. Make sure you speak with them after paying it off to be sure any remaining red flags are removed. It's a process, but don't fear the process. In the end... all they want is their money.
