Please provide a specific address if you would like information on a property. Purchasing a foreclosure is a risky venture if you don't know what you're doing. It also requires all cash. You should be working with a title company to make sure you're in the correct position and there are no IRS rights of first redemption. If you have a real estate attorney that should be your first call.

If you aren't a licensed agent, you can't. Trulia only accepts "For Sale" listings from licensed agents. Rentals are allowed by anyone, but there are many scams as a result.

It all depends on your personal preferences. A corner lot may have a bigger yard and views in different directions. But also, homes on a corner tend to have more traffic. If you have kids who are going to be playing in the yard or if noise bothers you, then it may not be ideal for you. ... more

My husband and I made this choice last year. We were in a 14618 area code, Brighton address, Pittsford schools. We then moved to 14534 Pittsford area. We like both schools and each has its own strengths. Really the decision is about what type of home do you want? Age and Size play a big factor.. since the types of homes vary greatly between each town. Also what type of lifestyle are you looking for, privacy, sidewalks, close to town, large lot etc.

In regards to the school districts, it is on a street by street basis.

By the way, we moved to the Rochester area from out of state... I understand Relocation and the challenge of finding a community that fits.

Happy to assist in any way.

I see that you are considering the Pittsford area. I have lived and worked in the Pittsford area my whole life. Coincidentally, I have just purchased a home on Conesus Lake in Livonia. Pittsford is an active town that offers all sorts of possibilities to connect with people like yourself. I would suggest that you can investigate community ‘doings’ by visiting the town website: The Pittsford Recreation Center has many offerings that may help you meet people with similar interests The local colleges have many events that may interest you. For the Arts Center at Nazareth College, visit: For events at St. John Fisher College, visit: The local newspaper, Brighton-Pittsford Post lists local events. The local places of worship always offer events for fellowship. I wish you well with your search in Pittsford and hope that you find it a community that will fit your needs. I would be glad to help you get to know the town better. ... more

More colonial homes sell in Pittsford than contemporary, but there are more colonials on the market. Also, many newer homes are colonial/contemporary with features from each style. True contemporaries are relatively rare and have their niche, so don't despair if you have a contemporary style home. Such homes in good condition and priced to market will sell! ... more

Both areas are wonderful yet very different living flavor that will appeal to one's taste. Pittsford people will tell you Pittsford is the best, Brighton people will tell you Brighton is the best. I would advise you to spend some time here to experience the true differences, don't rely on others on this issue.

I've moved to 9 cities in 28 years. I love Rochester.
However, it takes 2 years to understand the community you live in, the traffic flow, political drift, and demographic trends and the relative layout and proximity to services. Rent if you can stand it.
Be well.
