I have lived in cambridge lakes for the last 4 years. It is a wonderful, quiet community and offers a ton of amenities as described in the realtors email. We have great neighbors, lots of kids, and have been very happy. They continue to build on route 47, and it will only be a matter of time as more and more retail is offered out here. The interchange at 90 has already began to fuel this process. You will love it here, not sure what this other person is talking about, we have never had mice(or seen them) and every neighborhood you go to has foreclosures, it is an unfortunate reality and hangover from the recession. Unfortunately, the answer is zero times. Anytime they file an extension, for whatever reason, it jeopardizes your current loan and the bank's approval. If the seller extends for more than a few weeks, then you are at serious risk of losing the bank's approval or you may incur additional financing costs as your loan approval expires.

Best thing to do is to stay on top of the situation with your agent and figure out what you need to do to help get the deal closed on time.

Illinois is a "Judicial State" meaning a lender does have recourse. I would suggest you contact a local attorney who specializes in foreclosures to better answer your questions.
