You can get a mortgage at any age. Everyone has to meet the same list of requirements with regard to: down payment, income, assets, debt, and credit.

RiverCity CDC is a GREAT place to start! There is a grant program for our area, and they can help you get your credit to where it needs to be, in many cases. If you qualify, there are funds available to assist with a downpayment. With rents being so high in E. City.....and mortgage rates being so low...it is CRAZY to keep paying rent! Good luck, I hope this helps!!

Your credit score is great! If you are not already working with a Lender, we have a couple that we like to use that are very familiar with this area. Depending on your personal situation - whether you are looking for an investment or a Primary Residence, there are some great lending packages available. Elizabeth City has plenty of properties on the market and lots of new businesses coming in. (TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby....), we are an hour from the Outer Banks beaches, easy drive to VA and is home to one of the largest Coast Guard Bases. ... more

Rent to own is really not a good idea, therefore consider fixing whatever is preventing you from purchasing outright. Rent to own can be risky and one could stand to lose a bit of money, it favors the owner; therefore inform yourself well in advance of your search, and consider consulting with an attorney who specializes in real estate before considering the idea and or before signing any agreement. If you haven't done so yet, visit with any licensed loan officer, see if you can buy outright, or simply continue renting until a purchase can be made. ... more

The closest beach to Eliz City is on the Outer banks and is about 1.3 hours east. Kitty Hawk would be the closest by car.

USDA and VA loans both are 100% financing. If VA is not an option then USDA is a great program as well. We allow both programs down to a 600 credit score. We also offer assistance at no charge to you to achieve your score goals necessary to qualify. Contact me for more information. 919 219 2252 http://www.linkedin.com/pub/scott-cox/6a/420/8a4/ ... more
