An old question that still deserves answers.
The buyer (or seller for that matter) and his agent should first ask themselves the following questions:
Power boat or sail boat?
What is the length and draft of the boat?
How tall is the boat's mast or other structure?
Is your primarily purpose pleasure boating, fishing or competitive sailing?
Is a fixed dock acceptable or do you want a floating dock?
Do you require additional services such as power on the dock, cable TV and high speed internet?
What ammenities are important to you? (pool, showers, picnic area, parking, fish cleaning station, maintenance)
How far are you willing to drive?
When it comes to price per foot, "you get what you pay for" definitely applies, as does the Realtor's mantra: Location, Location, Location.
