If you don,t add or change the name on the deed the will have to go thru probate if something happens to one of you and that could cost up to 3500.00. I just went thru that situation. My late husband and I never had the deed updated after we got married so the deed company looks at it as a rental agreement (we had both our names on the deed but we were not married when we bought the house). It cost me an additional 2500.00 in lawyers fees when I went to sell the house and my 4 children had to sign off stating they would not dispute the will. ... more
