I actually live at Seasons and can't say enough good things about it. It's a gem in downtown! I've heard Hanna is nice too, but downtown apartments move FAST so don't wait too long in making a move. As for safety, downtown proper is actually pretty safe - the Hanna area especially (it's right in the theatre district, which is always lit up and active) and the area around Seasons isn't bad, either. Well-lit and a lot of people around, generally all times of day and night (Perk Park is super active, even well into the night, with families, etc.) Heading further east on Chester, it gets a bit more questionable... Just use common sense. You can get around without a car (plus parking costs a fortune), public transportation is pretty legit with the Health Line that runs along Euclid, other RTA buses and the trolleys that pick up right outside. Best of luck and welcome to the neighborhood!... more

German Village is no different than most other Columbus urban neighborhoods. I've lived here for nearly 10 years and have never experienced any problems. However, it's naive to think incidents don't happen -- they do, generally in the warmer months. Most are of the "broken car window" or "garage broken into" variety, not that serious, mostly just aggravating. (Locals know you have to be "city-smart" and not to leave anything of value on their car seat, that's asking for trouble) Of course, there are home break-ins from time to time, but that's true of anywhere in the city. That's the price one pays for the urban experience. People not comfortable with that are usually happier in communities like Westerville or Upper Arlington.... more
