MLS stands for Multiple Listing Service. The MLS is a database set up by a group of cooperating real estate brokers. Most listings in the MLS have a list price offered, few are auction -- those that are will have it specified in the information. But keep in mind that when a new listing comes on the market at a competitive marketable price, you may still find yourself bidding against other buyers who also want the property. Do you have a buyer's agent? He or she can answer your questions about how the MLS works. ... more

Hi Kimberly,

If you mapquest the address and then on the left of mapquest there are boxes you can check off to search for hotels and other things close by.

Hope that helps you

Good Luck

Murph, start by talking to your agent, and see if you have any contingencies left. If not, try to come to an arrangement with the seller. Worst case, talk to a lawyer.

Kathy Burgreen answered:
Realtors own the MLS and they are the ones who enter listings that feed to Trulia, Zillow and others. The issue is realtors decide what information gets sent to real estate websites and what information is hidden from the public. Items like HOA fees, pets allowed or not, etc. is not shown to the public. This ensures buyers will call agents to help them find a home. If more information would be published, buyers would not have to call immediately.

Trulia and Zillow are just media companies that allow realtors, owners & property managers to post listings for sale or rent. They have no control over the content.

Diane Christner answered:
Are you looking to co-sign on a mortgage for them? Do you realize you become as financially responsible for the loan as your parents? It will also have a big impact on your ability to get a car loan, open credit card accounts, or someday buy a home of your own.

And if your parents cannot make the payments for whatever reason, you will be liable for making the payments for them. If you cannot afford to meet your own financial obligations PLUS your parent's payments if you help them buy this home, then you may find your credit damaged because of it. The lender can also take on late fees and other penalties that you are now also responsible for.

For all of the reasons above, think long and hard before helping your parents in this manner. It may be best for all concerned if you assist your parents in establishing credit in their own names so that can one day buy a home on their own.
