Norwalk is a diversified City on Long Island Sound, so as you can imagine, many areas of East Norwalk as well as South Norwalk (SoNo) & Rowayton are along the shoreline. Any place in particular that you would like me to research?

Dreamy Hollow is a co-op, which is more rare in CT than NY. The common charges are quite high (on average about $950/ mo) but they cover all taxes, heat, hot water, pool, garbage, and property maintenance. The benefit of a co-op is that you can write-off your common charges on your annual tax return (something you cannot do in a condo). Mortgage and common charges would average about $1600/ mo. for a 1200 sq ft. Townhouse with two bedrooms and bathroom. You will not find this kind of space and layout in Lower Fairfield County for this price. I am a resident here ten years (meaning I bought at the height of the market) and still feel it is the best investment I could have made. ... more

Hi Rich--No one can give a definitive answer--but from what I'm seeing out there--there is definitely activity--more in some towns than others. And depending on where you are, how long you've been in your home and what your goals are--it might be time to list--certainly to buy. The advantage living on Ferris Ave. in Norwalk is that you have easy access to the main drag, Connecticut Ave., where all the big box retail stores are located and also to I 95. It is a neighborhood composed of condominium complexes and smaller more modest single-family homes. It's a good choice for a commuter and for an individual seeking a walk-to shopping locale. The taxes and mil rate in Norwalk is lower than Bridgeport, meaning that yes, the taxes in Norwalk are less than in Bridggeport, however...

You get more house for your money in Bridgeport, but you will be paying more taxes. Like most things, there are pros & cons to every situation. It really is up to where you are going to feel most comfortable. Both towns offer great amenities and are centrally located on Long Island Sound.

I am a Norwalk native and do have my real estate office, real estate & family there, however I live in Lake Forest, a beautiful lake community in the north end of Bridgeport, (which by the way, is one of Bridgeport's best kept secrets! If you have any further questions or would like additional information about either area, I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
