Sounds like a standard, "general" disclosure that applies to virtually every home out there. And I think you might be referring to "Chinese Drywall". The seller's property disclosure is similar to a "Mold Disclosure" and the "Square Footage Disclosure" and many many other types of disclosures. These are really just "CYA" (cover your A&%) documents. If a seller knows of any issues, then they "should" disclose them. (But's hard to prove that a seller purposely covered something up). And yes, most home owners really do not know. That is why every buyer should do a home inspection. A general home inspection can cost anywhere from $250-$500. Your inspector should be able to identify a house with a potential drywall issue.

I just googled "Chinese Drywall" and found this helpful website:

Good luck to you!

I have used CrimeReports and find it very helpful when a client asks about crime in a certain city or zip code. When the home page comes up, just type in Nokomis, Florida and it will give you the number of crime reports by map. ... more

This condo is not listed for sale. It is a pre-foreclosure. The owners have received a notice of Lis Pendens which is public record. This is posted by RealtyTrac. When searching on Trulia for homes you want to look up in the right corner above the price. If the home is for sale it will say the words For Sale. They have several listing types on Trulia such as Pre-Foreclosure/Lis Pendens, For Sale, For Rent, Public Record, etc. When an owner has received a notice of Lis Pendens they could catch up on payments or they could let it to go foreclosure. It could take years for it to actually be listed for sale.

I would be happy to send you listings of interest if you could send me your search criteria. Or you can search the MLS on my web site at If I can answer any questions or help in any way, let me know.

Hi Chris,

Realty Trac, etal. do not list properties for sale. They report on public notices recorded in the courts.

This sort of question must get asked 100 times day here on Trulia and over on Zillow. My advice is simple, read what the blurb below the picture of the property says.

If you want info on a property, ask a realtor. It's what we do.

Good luck, Mark

Oh I'm sorry, I was just curious because my bio-mom lived there and we hooked up in 1994. She passed away too early and I was just trying to remember a store that was nearby. So from time to time I like to take a look down memory lane. I wasn't sure why the house for sale again. It was hard enough for my half siblings to sell their home and then to see that it was up on the market again but pulled off I was curious to know if anyone ever lived there. It wasn't exactly the easiest end for them and rather difficult with the step-father. So let's just say it struck a nerve and brought back some good memories until the end. That's all. I'm sorry if I made you concerned. It was just wondering how the place looked like now. It was through Google earth so I'm not too sure how often this gets updated. But again it was just going down on memory lane. I was 35 she was 55 when we reconnected in 1994. Hope you don't mind. ... more

You will get more for your money off Island in Venice. There are not that many options in Nokomis or Osprey that would fit your criterea. I would recomend an existing established condo as they tend to be in better shape financialy than the brand new developments. There are a lot of options available so do your homework.

Presently there are 3 units in Sorrento Park listed for sale in the MLS ranging from $92,900 to $124,900. According to one homeowner, the law suit regarding roof issues has been settled and there is a special assessment to each of the homeowners. Any levied assessments would be the responsibility of the current owner. For more info contact Litghthouse Management who by several accouts has done a very professional job in handeling this. ... more
