Newberry Springs abounds with Meth Addicts, makers of Meth and thieves who are constantly on the lookout for newbies moving into the area. Numerous Drug Busts and illegals in the area. Better have numerous good guard dogs and registered firearms. That is if you expect to keep your personal belongings. They have no problem breaking into your property during the daytime. The thieves in Newberry Springs are well organized and have spotters out all the time, to see when you leave and when you return. They know how many people live in the home and when they leave and what cars they drive. Be informed, because the owners of said properties will not clue you in. 60 minutes did a documentary on this area being the Meth Capital of the United States, between the I-15 & I-40 back in "2002". Do your research, because I sure didn't, and within two weeks they tried to break into the property we had just rented. Contact Barstow Police Dept. and speak with one of the detectives and/or sherrifs, they should be able to give you a good idea about this area. ... more

There are a few other parcels of land for sale right now in that area, priced between $130-225K. One of them has been on the market for 1.5yrs. I'm only seeing 1 sale of acreage in the area for this year, it was 150acres for $100K
