Almost any of the five boroughs is my "favorite place" to celebrate almost anything. It depends on where everyone is coming from before (or going to after) the get together. Brooklyn has Williamsburg, Queens has Astoria and Forest Hills, Manhattan has - well Manhattan has everything. ... more

Go to the TKTS building (the day of the show) in Times Sq and there is also one in the South Street Seaport that not many people know about. It's not as congested and crazy down there. As for underground events you can check out the various little magazines and papers in cool downtown shops (east village etc)

Egen is correct. DOB 280 Broadway. But it's probably on microfilm and while they are open from something like 8-4 you can only get the information until 12 or 1. I forget the exact times but go early in the day and have patience.

Carole,

As you may know, NYC offers a tremendous amount of activity at all hours of the day/night. As such, instead of offering you specific events during Memorial Day Weekend, I would like to suggest three resources that are indispensable for general event scheduling in the city:

The Village Voice - www.villagevoice.com/
Time Out NY - www.tony.com/
L Magazine - www.thelmagazine.com/

I hope this is of some help!
