You can "claim" the property as the owner, and try to remove photos that way. Keep in mind that Trulia is not perfect and has plenty of glitches. And...I really wouldn't worry too much about it. This is just a marketing site for us Realtors, and really doesn't have any direct impact on you. If you were selling your house, and the listing had old photos, that's a different story that your agent could take care of. But I assume you're just looking at an old listing, or the home's public records info. I know, it's annoying. Welcome to the internet. Lots of stuff out there that we don't really have any control over. Good luck to you! ... more

Neither Trulia, nor any other online site, can protect you from scammers......these sites do post warnings.........if a rental price seems too good to be true......it isn't true............consumers are warned never to wire money for the keys, and if someone's story as to why they can't show you the home in person seems strange, it is most likely a scam!

You can flag it as a possible fraudulent listing by bringing up the listing, and looking for the word "MORE" (in blue) under the photo.

Click on MORE and you will see the FLAG option. Trulia should remove it.

I chose Rachel Walsh of William Pitt Sotheby's as my agent. She surpassed all my expectations and made me a client for life. I will soon be listing my fourth home with her and I leave everything in her capable hands. What she calls being a control freak, I call it her being in control of the entire process from the day I met her until well after the closing. There is not a better agent than Rachel Walsh and talking about her almost makes me want to move again. Almost. You will not be sorry! She protects your assets like they're her own, she sincerely wants to save or make you money, she is kind and really funny and she is ethical and motivated by pleasing me, the client. Awesome agent and person! ... more

The New Canaan Advertiser will post weekly home sales, however, it will not provide a comprehensive look at the past year sales, prices, locations, square footage, etc. Your Realtor can run a search that will provide answers to all categories that you request. It is simple to do, and as your Realtor has access to the Multiple Listing Service, it will be up-to-date and complete.

John and Susan Engel answered:
You are in New York so I am going to say no, not many, although New Canaan is getting more diverse every year. There has been a dramatic change since the Preppy Handbook cited us in the 1980's. According to City-Data.com we got about 2% more diverse between the 2000 census and 2009 but we have a ways to go:

New Canaan races chart
White alone - 18,220 (93.9%)
Asian alone - 443 (2.3%)
Hispanic - 338 (1.7%)
Black alone - 196 (1.0%)
Two or more races - 172 (0.9%)
Other race alone - 21 (0.1%)
American Indian alone - 4 (0.02%)
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone - 1 (0.01%)

Hope this helps.

Hi letkind,

You can always check out the town of New Canaan's online portal for property appraisals to check out the last sale and of course, consult your local realtor to inquire on the new canaan mls. Cross referencing is always important to make sure the figures are accurate.

Best Wishes,

I would be happy to give you a tour of all three towns and know them all very well. I have three cousins all of which are brothers and purchased homes within 60 days of each other. One chose Greenwich, the other Darien, and the third New Canaan. The taxes in Greenwich are the lowest by far. The amenities Greenwich has to offer are second to none. New Canann & Darien can't compete when it comes to the amenities Greenwich has to offer including but not limited to our Completely renovated hospital, New library, New YMCA,,Todd's Point, Public and private Golf Courses, and Greenwich Ave. There is no other community on earth like Greenwich and that's why the demand to live here is so great. New Canaan is a nice community but a much longer commute to NYC. Why spend all that extra time on the train each way? Unless you live right downtown like my cousin does it's a hike to travel anywhere. The issue with Darien is that the majority of their resturants and shops are on a main road with lots of traffic.. It's not as fun or safe as taking a stroll down Greenwich Ave. with a Police officer on every corner and a variety of the best shops and resturants you could imagine. At the end of the day it comes down to preference and where you feel the most comfortable. ... more

Banks will require their own appraisal. Always be wary and get any quotes in writing. Just because a bank offers a rate, doesn't mean they will give you that rate. The real question your asking is "can we close" if we request a new rate. Speak with your representative at the bank. Personally, both quoted rates are historically low and you should be patting yourself on the back for buying now!! Godd luck at closing! ... more
