Hello Joni,

Safety is a matter of perspective. We all have a different opinion of what areas are safe as opposed to others.

I have enclosed a link to a blog that I wrote about buying in a safe neighborhood...

Whitney ranch is a nice clean area. Most homes are in walking distance to the near by schools. I was born and raised in the city, So I was the 2 class of students to go the Green Valley high school which is the high school for Whitney ranch. Not only am I very familiar with the area, my Husband is one of the mailmen to deliver in Whitney ranch. It is also close to shopping, malls and local casino and freeways.
Hope this helps

Is there anywhere in Las Vegas, where there is no crime going on, no crime in progress, going to happen, will happen, going to happen, heard it happened, read it happen somewhere in the area, maybe your neighborhood, maybe yourself??????? As far as I see on on the maps, neighborhoods, all have had crime and will. Some worst than others... Just like in other places all over the USA...you got the good, bad and ugly. Hi Rick,

I own properties throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Most of them being single family residential that I lease out.

Rather than look at crime charts and maps I take it upon myself to do my own research.

You're trusting someone else to give you accurate data. Go look at the property, walk the streets before you buy. What does the area look like after 5pm and on the weekends.

If you're interested in looking at some properties in Vegas let me know.

You can reach me at 702-612-1584

If the person died of natural causes it does not have to be listed on the title as in many other states. Even if the death was a result of a violent crime.

There are ways of obtaining the information through community resources and paid services.

If you're interested in a property and would like me to investigate further let me know. If you're already represented by a buyers agent than he or she should be able to obtain that information.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance on this matter.

Respectfully,

Good morning, Tamekia,

"Safe" can mean different things to different people. (I often don't lock my doors because I feel "safe" in my neighborhood, while my neighbor has every alarm and anti burglar device known to man and totally freaks if there is a burglary 10 miles away. We are definitely two extremes when it comes to safety.)

So here is the Las Vegas crime statistics web site and you can draw your own conclusions.

http://www.crimemapping.com/map/nv/lasvegas

It's pretty cool once you get used to how it works. To start, simply enter a property address at the top to search. When that specific property's area map opens, you can adjust the criteria by using the tabs above the map for crime types, dates, etc. The date will only go back for the past six months, but if you use the same criteria consistently it will give you a great idea of how much relative crime there is within a certain radius of a given address.

I like to search by zip codes myself. You can plug in the address as "89102, Las Vegas, NV" and pull up everything within a mile radius.

If you are truly concerned about crime, you may want to locate lower crime zip codes first and then look for homes within those zip codes rather than looking for a home first. You can go to this site and search for homes by zip code:

http://www.greatlasvegashomes.com/las-vegas-zip-code-map.php

If you have any other questions, just shoot us an email at sold@greatlasvegashomes.com. We have been agents here more than 30 years, so we should have the answers. :)
