I've been here 4 years....the best areas/schools are ST. James, Socastee, Carolina Forest and Waccamaw. I would say Murrells Inlet is the best area because it is in the middle of everything, Myrtle Beach is north and Pawleys is south. the more south you go the more expensive. Our home is insured for approx $275,000. It is a 2200 sq ft heated home and the cost of insurance is $1400 a year. We also have flood insurance, even though we aren't in a flood zone which is approx $400 a year. This will just give you an idea.
