Good areas are all about personal preferences, budgets, wants, needs, lifestyle; therefore consider further researching areas of interest on your own, and take the time to visit more than once, then determine where your comfort level can best be reached; don't simply just entertain what other people think or say, another's opinion may not be anywhere near the best thing for you. As for schools, perhaps the links below may be of help...

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. Again, if unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Contact a local Realtor to discuss neighborhood options based on your criteria. As far as crime rates, your best resource is to check with the local police or sherrifs department.

Hi,

It really depends on what your lifestyle is and where you will be working. Tampa has a lot of great areas and some appear super appealing until you are making an hour and half commute for 20 miles each day. Do you know where you will be working? That would be the most helpful in answering this question. Tampa can be very deceiving when it comes to drive times. Just because it says 10 miles, it's not what it appears to be. If you could elaborate a little more, I think the locals could be more helpful.... :)

I live in Bay Crest Park near Town n Country - near the airport. Modestly priced homes and easily commutable to downtown and the beaches. Westchase to Oldsmar are also great locals and the schools are better in this area. I have an 8 year old in public schools and have no complaints thus far.

Also, if you need assistance with mortgage financing for your new purchase, I would be glad to assist and I can also hook you up with a great realtor that lives in the areas I am suggesting. Let me know how I can help.

Great Schools? You are aware of Florida's rankings for schools aren't you? The best schools are private and will not be cheap.

As for safe neighborhoods, Tampa was the most Economically depressed area in the country for 2013 (Yes we even beat out Detroit) so, your mileage may vary when looking for a safe area as high crime areas are often just blocks away from neighborhoods considered safe and they're scattered all over the city. Generally though, if you're willing to pay more, the area will be safer.

Personally, I would consider Clearwater or Oldsmar if you wanted safe and commutable to the tri-city area for jobs.

Hello Mrs. Brown,

South Tampa is the area south of Downtown Tampa. It is a peninsula surrounded by Tampa Bay and Hillsborough Bay. Hyde Park is the historic neighborhood, filled with homes dating back to the early 1900's. Each neighborhood has its own unique character. Always a popular place to live, South Tampa is known for its unique shops and restaurants, as well as its highly rated schools and low crime.

I hope this helps,

There are many great areas in Tampa to raise a family. How old are your children? Are you looking for a house, townhouse, apartment, or rental? You can go to my website and take a look. I can give more advice once I learn a little more about your needs.
