Here is some info I found on Wando HS. It is a well-organized, but large public school.
From U.S. News Rankings:
"Wando High School is South Carolina's 15th highest-performing high school in state, according to new 2013 rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News analyzed data from more than 21,000 public high schools to calculate the 2013 Best High Schools rankings. The magazine examined how students ranked compared academically to their peers within the state.
It also accounted for economically disadvantaged students and awarded additional weight for high-performing students who come from such backgrounds. The rankings also award points based on how well-prepared students are for college by looking at test scores.
Academic Magnet High School and Charleston County School of the Arts, two North Charleston magnet schools, rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the state listing. Academic Magnet lands in the Top 10 national rankings. Unlike Wando, those schools draw students from throughout the county.
The U.S. News high school rankings examine more than 21,000 high schools from 49 states and the District of Columbia."
Incidentally, they do offer a class called bible as literature:
THE BIBLE AS LITERATURE
This course will familiarize students with the Bible’s
content, structure, and style as well as its influence on
law, history, government, literature, art, music, customs,
values, and current events. The New International
Version Bible will be the primary text; related secular,
historical, and cultural works will also serve as
instructional materials. Selections from both the Old and 17
New Testaments will be studied. The course is designed
not to disparage or encourage a commitment to a set of
religious beliefs or doctrine.
