If I were you, start contacting a real estate attorney. Are you still paying rent? Do you have the owners address? The issue is WHY have you been paying their bills? Not sure if you can get your money back from the owners. Heating, maintenance, etc. were the responsibility of the owner - not you. Another issue is if you can recover a routing number for the bank where your rent was going to. If the owners cashed your rent payments, was that money deposited into their account? It would help to get the owners bank information so an attorney can investigate. It's called a money trail. Did you keep receipts for all the bills paid? An attorney needs to see receipts.

Repeating myself but this is an issue for a real estate attorney. My opinion? If you kept receipts and have the owners bank information, I think you are entitled to refunds or possibly sue the owner, but only an attorney can determine this.

So long as we can run a credit report and verify all income and assets it shouldn't be a problem. Does she maintain any US-related credit accounts still? Would there be any US-based address we could use to pull a credit report for her? If not then we would pull an international credit report.

I am sure your agent was thrilled you offered on a SS...make sure you ask for timely updates & where they are in the process...I do ALOT of SS's...and I tell my sellers 1 thing about buyers...you just need 1 offer to figure out what the bank will accept on the home...whether you stay around to buy or walk...from your offer they will get an approved price to sell at...good luck ... more

Usually Trulia will copy a listing from the MLS onto their site within 72 hours but some MLS services will not allow Trulia to do this automatically so have your agent enter it if that is the case.
