Normally, you don't have the well & septic until your building plans are known to determine what size is required. What you want to know is if a perk test has been done, to show that the property can support a septic system. Wells vary in cost depending on the depth required. Are you planning to build, or place a mobile home? Which area of central Virginia are you thinking of. Prices for an acre lot will depend on the county & distance from Richmond you are looking.

Don't know what "high crime rate" you are referring to. The reported figures don't back you up. Area is country and crime rate is low.

Terri Vellios answered:
You should contact a local realtor to visit your home and give you an update on the market value of your home today. You may want to consider renting out the home too. The time to sell is when you are ready and are financially able to do so. When you are armed with information you will be in a much better situation to make those personal decisions.

All the best to you.

OUR HOME IN STRATFORD HARBOR SOLD AFTER ABOUT TWO YEARS; THE EARLIER APPRAISAL OF 540,000 IN 2007 DROPPED TO ONLY 200,000 BY 2012. THIS PROPERTY WAS AT 148 PLANTATION DRIVE.
THE AREA IS FANTASTIC HOWEVER TO LIVE AND THE BEAUTY OF THE REGION TENDS TO OFFSET THE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY. I PERSONALLY COMMUTED TO AND FROM THE HOUSE ON WEEKENDS, AND LIVED IN BALTIMORE FOR THE WORK WEEK ITSELF.
THE GAS PRICES FROM COMMUTING, AND THE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE CAR TEND TO BE QUITE HIGH, BECAUSE OF THE REMOTE LOCATION OF THE HOUSE.
IF YOU CAN SWING IT, THE LIFE AT STRATFORD HARBOR IS WORTH THE PRICES.
