The problem with a pre foreclosure is it is still owned by the current home owner. They most likely are behind in payments and most often owe more than the house is worth not being able to sell it. The bank does not own it to be able to sell it. The current owner sure wont want to help someone else take their home away ... more

You might want to see if you can find someone else to help you get the house worked on. If your insurance is helping with the costs, and the other contractor stopped helping you, you should still be able to hire someone to help you. I would suggest talking with your insurance to see what your options are with them. After that you can either contact people to help you restore the house or you can try to sell it, depending on what they say.
