Most lenders need a minimum credit score of 620. There are a few lenders that go down to 580. However, your big concern should be interest rates. Even IF you qualified for a loan, you will be charged very high interest rates because of your poor credit. Lenders give the lowest interest rates to buyers with excellent credit.

Do yourself a huge favor. Forget buying for now. Continue to rent and work on improving your credit to at least 650 and save some money for a down payment. Why would you want to pay 6% or more in interest on a 30 year loan which will cost you thousands of dollars when you don't have to if you wait another year. Also if you save for a larger down payment, you will also save thousands of dollars because you won't have to pay high mortgage insurance premiums.

The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is a database of properties for sale... put together with the efforts of Realtor-members... in large part due to their membership dues that are paid regularly. Because it's members-only access the full MLS is not available to the public.

Some limited versions are available online without membership (ala Zillow, Realtor.com, etc...) without fee. You're welcome to access those.

It's nice that you're willing to pay a small fee for access to the MLS, but unfortunately, that's just not the way membership works.

Hi,
I agree with Kathy, firstly you should start with the bank to get a loan.
Some other ways to get finance for home renovations are:-
Home equity line of credit
Home equity loan

Construction loan
Federal Housing Administration 203k loan
FHA Title 1 loan
Contractor financing
Thanks!!

Hi Coconut 2,

I have been a resident of Linden Hills for the past year near Lake Harriet Parkway and 44th. It is 6:55 p.m. on a Wednesday night and right now there are low flying planes going directly overhead every 5-8 min. This is also a peak traffic time. For me, this is "too much" for a beautiful but pricey neighborhood and why I chose to rent to test it out, and I've decided to buy somewhere quieter. That said, 5-6 blocks can make a big different.

Hope this helps.

If you are a renter living in a home facing foreclosure, you usually get some sort of advance notice. Some state and local laws may offer protections for renters in the foreclosure process. You may want to consult an attorney about your rights.

Also, this may gives you the opportunity to participate in the foreclosure sale auction if you want to buy the home yourself. If you need ay help in buying and selling home, contact us
