The reason that they don't is that they feel the public will be turned off or discouraged by the appearance of a lot of the bank owned properties. However, in the context of 'WALKABLE HOMES' the user preferences are an essential element of the algorithm. Clearly, a relevant definition of 'walkable' must take into consideration:
1. What are the activities engaged in monthly
2. Age of occupants
3. Do wage earners commute or work from home
4. How will bicycle and walking factor into the equation
5. How important is the pharmacy and library and playground
6. What is the citizens maximum walking distance. 1/2 mile. 1 mile, 2 miles
7. Are 'zip cars' available?
8. Are the routes sharing high speed traffic ways?
9. What will you do with the $15,000 annual recovery?

Seeking 'Walkable Homes' is a crucial element in the selection process. The risk aversion aspect as well as the financial security component are INCREDIBLE!

There are several ways to get on and off the island. The most common is by the Ferry operated by Fisher Island. It is an auto ferry - you drive your car on, put it in park and enjoy the 7 minute ride to the island. Once you get to the island, most people park their car at their condo and then use their golf cart around the island. You can also take a taxi to the ferry station, walk onto the ferry and then take the island trolley from the ferry on the island side to your condo. Either way, you must own a unit on the island (or be a guest at the hotel) to get clearance to walk on or drive your car onto the ferry.

You can also arrive by private boat, yacht, jetski, etc., but again, you must have security clearance to dock there. Or, you can come by helicopter (again, must have security clearance).

However you arrive, you can pretty much leave the way you came.

The maintenance fees for a 4/4 can range from $2,800 to $5,000 a month (from looking at the available units as of today). It would all depend on the unit you are purchasing.
