I don't know how you found this "nut" and am sorry for your poor treatment. This situation is the reason to NEVER rent from a private party. From what you explain, it "seems" she has violated the AZ Landlord Tenant Act. Contact an attorney! Bring your lease to your first meeting. You'd be surprised how quickly a certified letter from a law office will set things right!!!

When it comes to any safety issues, your best source of information is the local police department, why not visit/call and ask all your questions, they'll gladly help and you will have heard all firsthand--if you are not familiar with the area, visit more than once and at different times of day--then make your determination--will your comfort level be reached. ... more
