We own a cabin, ours is a "midsize" (sleeps 10 comfortably). Have rented it for about 5 years. High activity in Fall, mid Spring and Summer (all those summer camps on the mountain, parents rent drop off and pick up weekends :) We have someone that handles most of the details for us as my husband and I both work and travel extensively. So even with the % allocated for fees we still walk away with our payment, maintenance, utilities, etc paid and the kids college funds growing each month! Mentone is an area that is a hidden jewel---simply spectacular. Our kids love it, we ski, fish, kayak, run, and love the outdoors in general. You can't go wrong buying here. Word of mouth has helped grow our personal rental business more than anything. Make your cabin distinctive, not many in the area have what I would call "well appointed" amenities and furnishings. Attention to detail, quality linens, furnishings, cleanliness, and comfortability is the positive feedback we have received about our cabin. We have a lot of repeat renters and/or friends of renters, all returning again and again because they appreciate something nicer :) Hope that helps!
