There are government agencies who will counsel and guide you through the process of rebuilding your credit. One non-profit agency in Memphis in particular will offer you confidential counseling in person and will meet with you as much as needed. Do be prepared for this to take some time. Yes you can, some landlords will not accept you, however most will-they may ask you to pay an additional months deposit, but there are plenty of people that will rent to you. Do you have any references? This will help you. There are many places that will also rent to you if you have been through foreclosure, just be careful of ads on craigslist, some renters have been scammed by owners in pre-foreclosure. My recommendation is to find a local Realtor, they can usually help find you a place to rent and they will check and make sure the property you are going to rent is not in any foreclosure proceedings. ... more
