This is a super common on-line rental scam. Be wary of anyone "out of country" trying to rent a property via email. Good luck !

We as Realtors are not allowed to "steer" our clients. I would suggest driving by the area during different times of the day and on different days also to get a true feel of it. For crime statistics try going to the local police station and asking the local authorities. I do know several people who live or have lived in that area and they have all had positive things to say about it. However everyone has their own criteria so it's best to do your own personal investigations. ... more

To drive from the Melrose area to Beverly Hills I would allow myself 15 minutes. It isn't that far away in miles but there is always traffic in Los Angeles. It also depends where in Beverly Hills you are going. ... more

If you're looking at rental listings, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you should see the person's contact info. Beware of the scams however.

Kathleen Becker answered:
Hi Brett:

Auctions happen daily. You must first identify the property that you want to bid on. In many cases, depending upon if it is a foreclosure auction or a private party auction, you may be able to inspection the property before you bid on it. In some cases, you will not and will bid on the property sight unseen which you may get into a "Money Pit" situation purchasing a home with deferred maintenance and major issues.

What is your ultimate goal?

You might want to consider working with a Realtor who can take you through the process. Keep in mind that inventory is very low and many people are bidding on properties as well.

Feel free to contact me if I may assist.

Good luck!

All the best,

Kat Becker, Realtor

Hi Bridget,
Have you thought about North Hollywood, (NOHO), Studio City, Los Feliz, West Hollywood, and Silverlake areas...those are the types of areas that would appreciate your talents. The stores on Los Feliz might be willing to put your chairs in their display windows, even if they dont sell furniture. Another trendy spot might be Larchmont Blvd.
Good Luck,
Lou & Alex
