These are some places to check. I live in the neighborhood and have been here for 18 years and I haven't heard of any crimes except for a few smashed mail boxes about 10 years ago. I'd be happy to help you find a house. 293-4546 is my cell.

Hello wmsweeper,

The address that you are inquiring about is located within Plainfield Township, which is patrolled by the Kent County Sheriff's Department. I have attached a link to the Community Policing page of their website (http://www.accesskent.com/Sheriff/community.htm). The Kent County Sheriff's Department does not maintain its own crime rate website or directly participate in providing information to those listed below.

While the web links mentioned do provide information on reported criminal activities, the nature of these reports is very general and is restricted to those serious crimes that are identified as required by the State of Michigan and the US Department of Justice to be reported (e.g. Part 1 and Part 2 crimes).

Your best bet in determining the level and types of crime that occur within this neighborhood would be to contact the Community Policing Unit of the Sheriff's Department and ask. They may be able to more accurately provide you with information on trends and the "nuisance" offenses than the websites below.

Be aware that some personnel may be reluctant to speak on these issues for fear of giving you an inaccurate impression of a neighborhood. In some areas, the crimes that occur are infrequent. For example, a large neighborhood may have seen a 200% increase in home invasion in 2013, but in looking at the raw numbers, this may only mean that instead of 1 occurrence, there were 3.

The other thing to do would be to talk with the folks who live in the neighborhood. Great neighborhoods have great neighbors who have a vested interest in keeping it that way.

Hello,

Realtors are not allowed to comment on crime rates nor are we as informed as the local police department. To answer your question correctly, I would suggest contacting the local police department in that area and asking them, they will have the best answer for you.

If you are interested in viewing crimes in any given area, you can also check these web sites out;

Thank you and I hope this helps,

Take a look at a crime mapping site like: http://www.crimemapping.com/map/mi/grandrapids That will show you what crimes have occurred recently and where they occurred. I would always recommend driving through an area at all times of the day if you are not familiar with the area. Let me know if you are interested in taking a look at the property sometime. I hope this helps!
