If you have a smartphone, there is a great app called "Crimeview - NearMe" that will show you the criminal activity around you, when it happened and the severity. This is especially handy if you are new to an area and want to know about the area before you contact a Realtor.
When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ https://www.crimereports.com/ http://www.homefair.com/
In any case in which I hear that a Client is worried about Crime... I always say exactly the same thing... Please contact the local police dept... They can give you the exact figures and not some biased opinion. They work it every day and know much more than anyone... even people who live there
Unfortunately Realtors can not answer questions worded like that. It may be considered steering: which is the act of encouraging consumers to avoid certain neighborhood or area. It is great that you are doing research before selecting an area to live in. I recommend searching the internet for sites that provide unbiased accurate information. Most government sites will have the best information with regards to crime in any area. You can go to the following sites to help assist you with your search. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
