Dear Jennifer:

That is a very subjective question and the answer can differ from person to person depending on what they consider safe. Do research online and at the local police precinct. Talk to people you know in the area and local business owners. Visit the neighborhood late at night and check out the "lay of the land".

Most of Brooklyn is fairly safe at night, NYC is experiencing a very low crime wait as compared to most MAJOR cities. What blocks and area do you speak of?

Hi George I am looking at Church and Brooklyn Ave in East Flatbush. I have been there a couple of times and seems ok, but when looking at crime maps it seems to have some high levels close by. I am a young girl and want to be sure I wouldn't have a problem walking home on subway. I am also curious if forecaster are predicting a turn in the area. It is so close to Lefforts Garden.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. Don't simply just entertain what other people think or say, another's opinion may not be anywhere near the best thing for you.…

Hi, I am also curious about this area, specifically Church Street to 40th street. I checked the crime websites and they are not as accurate and I would like. Also are forecasters predicting this area to go down and crime and up in value with the years to come?

As agents due to Fair Housing laws we are unable to answer that question, but here are some links to sites that you can check crime rates on:

Hope that helps.
