What's the deal on 520 North "K" Street? Yesterday, it was listed for 35K; today it's 88K. Some agent told me there were 50K in municipal liens.

It is a short sale and there is also a city lien on the property of about $50,000.
The city lien is supposed to be negotiable down wards considerably, but maybe the agent
cannot promise that, hence the never and about 50K higher price.
I have inquired regarding that property myself and that is the answere that I got.

Hi Peter -- Thanks for confirming my suspicions. That situation is a mess no matter how you dice it. There's a lis pendens, 50K in code violations, plus a 10% penalty. Apparently, the owner doesn't want to take any responsibility for anything. I think the 'agent' quit; today's picture shows a 'For Sale by Owner' sign on the tree out front. Let the bank forclose on it; at least then it will have a clear title. Who wants to get involved in that mess? The owner's a dreamer, or crazy. He should pay me 50K to make his problems go away! With all the code violations, it probably needs rehab (good guess). Too bad, could be a cute place. Thanks for your help!
