There are currently no rental houses listed in Bangor. Does this mean it's a good idea to rent out my house?

Renting can make sense but month to month if you still really want to sell in the long run. Best tenants work for a living, pay their bils and have good credit. Maybe owned before. Ask lots of questions and get references. Not from their last landlord, he or she will tell you anything to get them to move along if they are slow, no pay. And have a habit of piling up 2200 pounds of garbage, debris you will have to handle the same way. Ask the next to last landlord. History is your best predictor.

Yes - the demand for rentals is high and will stay high for at least the next 5 years - you may want to try some non-traditional ideas like a lease for less than 6 months or renting it furnished - did you know there are over 200,000 traveling nurses in the US at any time - your house could be perfect - take a look at a comprehensive Property Owner Handbook at http://www.CorporateHousingbyOwner.com - this might give you some more ideas
