Thanks for the question and I would be happy to try and be of help. I am not 100% sure of your timing or needs so I will answer as best I can.
As far as a move to Santa Barbara, this is always a great choice if it works for you. The Santa Barbara area is a great place to live with wonderful weather, culture, restaurants, educated people etc. Most people here are also very outdoor oriented be it biking, hiking, ocean sports or trips to the Sierra's to board and ski in the Winter. If you have children, the quality of schools are also very good and you can find information on these individual schools on my website at http://www.KevinSchmidtchen.com.
As far as the San Roque area specifically, for many this is a quintisential family area with winding streets, a relatively flat area and great schools. The predominant schools are Peabody and the Hope School district. San Roque is also very close to uptown with all the services you need regarding shopping, eating, etc. The value of single family homes range from the $850,000 to $2.4 Million price point with most homes falling in the $950,000 to $1.4 Million range. Condos tend to be in the $450,000 to $800,000 price point in the San Roque area.
I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me directly at 805-689-6877 for any thoughts or questions as well as my website at http://www.KevinSchmidtchen.com. If you are for sure thinking about a move, then I would be happy to go over the area with you, talk about your timing and needs specifically and anything else that could be of help. Look forward to hearing from you.
Santa Barbara is a beautiful place to live and San Roque is one of the more popular neighborhoods these days. Strong real estate values in general due to a fairly consistent demand for that area. I'd be happy to walk you through the different real estate prices in that neighborhood as well as highlight a few of the best deals. I'd also recommend taking a look at the Samarkand neighborhood if you like that area of SB. It has a similar feel to San Roque and real estate values are in the same ball park. If you want to read up on the history of San Roque go to: http://www.theziagroup.com/SanRoqueHistory.php.
Give me a call at 805-637-7148 or visit my website for more information on the neighborhood and real estate in general. I'd be happy to give you a tour of the area as well. I look forward to helping you in your search.
