...close to where? The area known as "The Hollywood Hills" is very large and contains a wide variety of residential sub-markets? You really should get a architect involved to help you find a site that meets your needs and allows for the size of home you want to build and outdoor living space you want. The general question you pose is naive and doesn't include the information that indicates a serious desire on your part to actually buy/build something.

In response to the answer you received so far, "the plaza" as in Sunset Plaza is relatively near to sites (as in just minutes away from) listings on/off the market that are for sale with parcel/land prices from hundreds of thousands to several million per site.

I don't believe you will have any luck finding 2 acres near the plaza. The area is very congested with the houses right next to each other. If you go a little east or west it will be a bit easier but it won't be a flat lot unless it's a tear down.
