How do I find what the value of my house is in 22958 without doing a formal appraisal?

Are there comaparable features to use as a general guide to use for a value, such as number of bedrooms, $/ sq ft etc.?

Good afternoon Mr. Martino. As a former lender with BB&T and as a Realtor on the mountain, a formal appraisal is always your best bet for current market value guidance, for your home. That said, a less expensive method of determining home value is having a Realtor take a look at your home, present comparable properties that have sold in your area, and adjust for variances (location, square footage, property condition, et al). This will give you a fairly good idea of your current home value. Should you decide to list your home for sale, your motivation coupled with this data, shall assist in determining the proper market list price.

Without knowing your reason for needing such information, it makes it tough for us to give you the most appropriate source. A local real estate agent is always a good source, if you have a relationship. Also, if you go to the web site below, I don't know if it will work for your area or not, but you can order a market snapshot. It does work for more than the 20175 zip code, but I've only tested in the Wash DC metro area (No Va, MD, panhandle of WV and DC). Try it.

Contact an experienced area Real Estate Agent, he or she will be able to take all the details of your home,
sq.ft., no of rooms, condition of home, upgrades, basement amenities, garage, lot size etc. into consideration and compare to recent sales to give you an app. market value of your property.

Most important though is why are you interested in the value of your home?
Do you just want to know in today's market? Do you want to refinance possibly? Are you thinking about selling your property?

When selling..... remember the value of a home for sale is what a ready and willing and a financially sound
buyer is ready and willing to pay...... So no one value determination is 100 % correct, since they are based on comparable homes, and as you know no one house is exactly the same as another!

Contact a local realtor who can provide you that information. Listing agents and appraisers use MLS past 6 months sales history determine value of home based on area, sq. ft, room count, condition of home.
