Its up to your landlord whether or not they will allow your roommate to add the new person to the lease and remove your name. Often this can be determined by credit score, application and background check. Be careful, if you move out and do not remove your name from the lease you are liable for the debt if your co-signer on the lease decides not to pay. Regarding the moving expenses, and first month's rent probably are not going to happen. However, if you had a deposit/last months rent with the landlord, your name will have to be removed from that escrow account and the new co-leasee will have to provide the landlord with the funds to replace the funds that will be returned to you. Because your breaking the lease, the deposit may not be refunded to you nor your roommate. Good luck!
