The houses on the ocean are close together is that okay with you? If so I believe I can find you a handful of options to look at. They are not mobile homes. But maybe townhomes.

What offer are you thinking of putting? Maybe I can give them a call and see if I can negotiate on your behalf and see what they say.

It is better to go through a Realtor, because craigslist has a bunch of scams these days and you can loose your deposit. If you decide to use craigslist then make sure they show you the proof that they are the home owners. If not I would be happy to send you some for lease listings in the area.
Best of luck

Mark, Yes it appear available for sale right now. If you would like to arrange a showing feel free to contact me. As far as advice to build, Malibu gives a really hard time to build new things, and permits. So it is best to just buy something you already like. ... more

Hi Cindy,
My Brother is a Contractor. It really depends on the quality of service you need. For example when I refer to him, he works on Malibu homes, and celebrity homes. So it can get a little pricey compared to the average joe contractor.

Building a home is not that expensive, it can go from 200k for small one to millions.
Also before you start all of this please make sure you got your permits in order with the city of Malibu, because they can be very strict when it comes to approving new builds.

Many problems and your post sends some red flags for common problems. "is this one also for $100,000" has nothing to do with what the property may sell for at sale. Is that the default amount? Is that the original loan amount? Is that openning bid? Is there a junior lien behind it or a senior lien in front of it? Did you pull a prelim?

See? This isn't something for weekend foreclosure warriors. I see people all the time emptying their 401K becuase they think they are going to get a half million dollar property for $50K only to find out there is a $600K first in front of the foreclosing entity.

Not necessarily, these are just an assessment based on the last sales price. If the home was undervalued and someone paid less than market value (or vice versa) it won't be a good indicator. ... more

If you are not already living here, you should know that the Pacific ocean by LA is very cold and prone to dangerous rip currents, so its not really a place for recreational swimming.

I lived in Paradise cove early 90s when I first moved here. At the time we had to pay cash, $185K, for a mobile home that was valued at $12K That place is worth around $1.4MM now and I wish I still owned it!!! There are several lesser expensive "coaches", they start in the low $300K-$400K and average around $800K-$900K depending on park and location/views.

It is a wonderful place to live - not the least expensive to be sure! Great lifestyle and community, but you purchase the mobile home and rent the space. Space is rent controlled, but remember, you do not have a deed to anything. Mortgaging or pulling money out of it in a cash out refinance situation is not at all like a house...

We have an amazing pocket listing in Pointe Dume club, completely redone and gorgeous. It is coming up next month (Oct. 2014) in the low $900s. If you are interested contact me malizoo@charter.net

There are several steps you should consider. First of all, is the home you've chosen within your comfortable budget range? Have you been preapproved for a loan from a mortgage lender in your state? Have you consulted a Realtor to walk you through the process? After you've taken these initial steps, the Realtor will coordinate all of the paperwork necessary to submit a purchase offer, and then he/she will inform you of the other steps needed (such as submitting earnest money, counteroffering, hiring a home inspector, etc). Best of luck to you in getting the home you selected, but do consult a Realtor (perhaps an ABR / accredited buyers representative) to help you through the process. ... more

Murphy Way or Murphy Motorway as it ascends to the Edison maintenance roadways up the ridge is know also as DeButts Terrace. It was named after a long time resident and postman who lived there, owned much of the property and was an Original Malibu pioneer.

The residential road winds up the ridge as you are surrounded by absolutely gorgeous Mansions and Villas that provide luxury living at it's finest. To the East is Escondido Canyon with a waterfall that is a very beautiful and popular easy hike to see.

To the West is Ramirez Canyon that was a big part of the original Malibu Rancho cattle herding areas that let out at Smugglers Cove. In the 1950s the owner of Smugglers Cove started a weekend trailer park for celebrities to come and stay, fish, boat, eat, drink, hang out because of the incredible reefs and kelp beds that lie just off the coast and the beautiful and secluded beaches and coves. With a new name of PARADISE COVE this magical place became one of the most popular places to go in Malibu. Current values in Paradise range from $500,000 for a small trailer to $4,000,000 where Stevie Nicks just bought an awesome large 3 bedroom home and is making into a music studio.

Eventually it was completely developed into a spectacular neighborhood that produced some of the world's best surfers. It is the home of the world's best spear fisherman Jaime Padgett. It is not uncommon for him to pull 50lb Seabass out in front of the pier area that is just outside of the State and federally protected natural habitat area.

The entire area West (or North as most people think of it) up to beyond Point Dume and beyond is all protected area so the natural environment is preserved for future generations. There is no fishing allowed in these protected areas unless you connect with the commercial fishing boats that occasion the area.

The reefs are full of Halibut, Tuna, Seabass and many reef fish of all varieties and the snorkeling is funtastic.

To get back to the original question about elevation of Murphy Way one needs to know the exact address as it ascends from Pacific Coast Highway (30 feet) all the way up the mountain to above the cloud levels near (2,000ft). The views are wide and wonderful at every property and every residence.

If you have never seen the view from this street, I highly recommend that you take a trip and see. If you want to view the coast line from inside a home that is for sale, come up when there is an open house or make an appointment with me.

To go inside any high end Malibu home you will need to be prepared to show your ability to buy with financial records and proof of a down payment or full cash, as the owners of these private and secluded homes do not allow just any Jane or Joe Smo to walk around their home.

I will be pleased to escort you to These awesome Villas or other competing areas like Point Dume, Broad Beach Road, Malibu Colony Road, Malibu Cove Colony, Marisol, Carbon Beach, Billionaire Beach, La Costa Beach, Cavalleri Road, Malibu Park, Trancas Canyon, Ramirez Canyon, Escondido Canyon or any of the incredible Malibu Eastside or Westside neighborhoods in The Malibu that I LOVE.
